Rev. Jackson, PUSH to thank Englewood teenage war hero for his act of bravery

Rev. Jesse L. Jackson, Sr. and the Rainbow PUSH Coalition are paying tribute to Milton Lee Olive, III, 10 a.m. Saturday, November 13th, during the weekly broadcast for the sacrifices he made during the Vietnam War when on October 22, 1965, the 18-year-old Chicagoan spotted a live grenade during a search and destroy mission, placed it on his stomach allowing it to explode saving the lives of four comrades.

‘America told us to get over it’: black Vietnam veterans hail Spike Lee film that finally tells their story

A new film featured in the guardian.

“The plight of African American service members who served in Vietnam, where they are now, why they are the way they are, this should be brought to light,” said Richard D Kingsberry, a veteran in Charlotte, North Carolina, who began his service in 1972 in the navy. “A lot of African American service members never got cared for properly after they returned, and that is a life-altering impact.”
